Handmade Love: PK Paper Company

Its time for the next edition of Handmade Love: Small Biz!! This week I’m featuring the PK Paper Company and the Jill the creative mind behind these fun designs!!

Tell us how you got started…

I’ve always had an interest in design and taking different separate elements to create something new. When a co-worker was planning her wedding, I watched her struggle to find an invitation that really fit her, her fiancée, and the impression for the ceremony that they wanted to give to their guests. Sensing an opportunity, I offered to design an invitation for her. If she loved it, great. If not, no big deal.

In the end, she and her fiancée both loved the invitation and opted for the printable route, taking the file to a family member who worked in a print shop and was able to print them out. One of the best compliments I received was from a guest who told me that the design fit the bride perfectly.

The success of that invitation got me thinking and I turned it into a challenge to see what other invitations and party pieces I could create. By making the shop digital download only, I’m able to offer my customers professional level designs on a DIY budget.

What inspires your creative process? Why do you do what you do?

I just adore designing cute and quirky party printables that meet the needs of all the major life milestones: birthday parties, engagements, bachelorette showers, weddings, baby showers. Plus, of course holiday parties like Christmas and Halloween. Parties and events are a time of joy and happiness and I get such a thrill at the idea that my invitations are the ones being sent out to encourage people to come to the baby shower or bachelorette party and celebrate with the people they love.
