Discovering new shops and making new Maker Friends is so much fun for me! I’d love to introduce you to my friend Tony from Little House of Crafting! I adore her creative and fun buttons and have more than just a few of my own!

Tell us about how you got started…

Hello! I’m Toni, the geeky maker behind Little House of Crafting! While working full-time in higher education, I started making and selling pinback buttons in February 2013 so a close friend would have company while selling at anime convention Artist Alleys across the Midwest. I later added an 8bit perler art product line.

Even though I loved attending anime conventions, I found that I needed to take my pretties to the web to be sold worldwide for all to enjoy! After days of pondering a shop name, I finally came upon Little house of Crafting – a nod to the adorable 650 square-foot house in which my husband and I live. I opened my online shop in May 2013.

Almost a year later, in March 2014, I decided to nix fanart from my product lines and pursue making my own original designs. This freedom brought forth many new designs that so many love! I make my designs digitally on the computer, print them and punch them myself with my button making machine. I then package my products with a backer made from recycled materials.

I also assist other makers with promotional materials by providing button and magnet making services. To date, I have customized pinback buttons and magnets for over 15 other makers!

What inspires your creative process? Why do you do what you do?

Everything inspires my creative process! I particularly geek out over science, tea, videogames and art itself. I make my designs with other geeks in mind. I also donate 5% of my sales to the Student Loan List to assist students with their student loan debt. It feels great to be able to give back and I can’t wait to be able to increase my donation amount!

I love working with other makers and helping them provide fun swag and freebies in their orders. So many makers come back to me and tell me how their fans loved the product that I made for them.

These reasons and more are why I do what I do.

Aww, how fun! I know a few geeks who would love these items! 😉 And how sweet for Toni to donate a percentage of her sales to the Student Loan List.
