Before you hop in your car to head to one of my favorite cities, Philadelphia, make sure you get your car serviced at your local car dealership. A well running car will help to ensure you get to see the very best of Philly. This city has some hidden gems that you wouldn’t know about, unless you lived here. Check out these fun and unique things to do in Philadelphia.
Cave of Kelpius
A unique place to visit, while in Philadelphia, is Cave of Kelpius. This unique spot was founded in 1694 because its founders believed that the world was going to end that year. Today you can go check out the structure firsthand. It has a very rich history and one worth checking out. Some say it’s not easy to find, so make sure you follow the directions to get there.
Eastern State Penitentiary
Visit a penitentiary? Why not? This is one of the most unique things to do in Philadelphia. This prison is also known as ESP and it’s America’s most historic prison. Some of the most notorious criminals were housed at ESP. We’re talking Al Capone and Slick Willie Sutton.
Please Touch Museum
Typically, when you enter a museum, no one wants you to touch, only look. Please Touch Museum is a little different. This museum is actually marketed as a children’s museum, but it’s one of the unique things to do in Philadelphia. There is tons to explore from the Tokyo exhibit to the other permanent exhibits and collections. There is something for everyone to do.
Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens
This sounds like a very unique place to check out in Philly. PMG is a unique space that showcases folk art environment, gallery space, and much more. It’s a non-profit organization that is a permanent art institution that you can check out throughout the year.
Mount Moriah Cemetery
If you’re looking for the unique of the unique things to do in Philly, then you need to check out Mount Moriah Cemetery. This particular cemetery is abandoned, but it looks eery and way too cool to not check out. This cemetery opened in 1855 and has brought a sense of uniqueness to the city of Philadelphia since then. While it may look a little crazy and abandoned, people are working hard to clean it up, so everyone can enjoy the unique infrastructure of this very old cemetery
