San Antonio is rich in Texas history, and has many great historic stops to visit. There are also other fun places that your whole family can experience that won’t cost you anything. Here’s a list of some of the best free things to do in San Antonio area!

The Alamo

A national historic landmark and a great piece of American History, The Alamo should be the first place to visit on everyone’s bucket list in San Antonio. Come see where Davy Crockett, James Bowie, William B.Travis and 182 Texas soldiers died bravely against Santa Anna and his 1,500 soldiers in the Mexican Army. What’s crazy is that it won’t cost you anything to visit the Alamo, although they do appreciate donations.

San Antonio Missions National Historical Park

There are four beautiful and well-preserved Spanish missions in this park were built back in the 1700’s to convert Native Americans. San Antonio Missions National Park is a must visit if you enjoy history, and learn more about early Texas civilizations.

Riverwalk on San Antonio River

Walking alongside the Antonio River on the San Antonio riverwalk will be provide many things to see and do. There are many shops, breweries, museums and restaurants in the heart of downtown to keep your eyes busy. I encourage you to walk it at night when it’s all lit-up and watch the boats travel down the river for a relaxing evening.

Pools in San Antonio

San Antonio has 23 public pools in the city that will provide an escape from a hot summer day. San Pedro Springs Park Pool  is one of the best pools for you and your kids to go to that won’t cost you a dime.

Japanese Tea Garden

Take a stroll in the Japanese Tea Garden in San Antonio, where you will come across exotic plants, a 60 foot waterfall, and beautiful garden scenery.

ArtPace Downtown

Come visit the ArtPace Downtown, where some of the best artwork in San Antonio is on display. You will see artwork from local, regional, and famous artists from all around the world. With free admission, you can’t go wrong with a visit. 

Brackenridge Park

This is Brackenridge Park is San Antonio’s most popular park, which hosts a carousel, the San Antonio zoo, a golf course, the Japanese Tea Garden and playground. Having a picnic, or whatever other activity you are looking to do will be a great time at this park. Make sure snap a picture of  the old beautiful stone bridge in the park. 

First Fridays

Come check out First Fridays in San Antonio for a night of fun, entertainment, and an enjoyable walk around the city. There’s so many things to see and do, from music, food, art and much more.
