Men are hard to make for. Seriously! At least for me they are… I have rather feminine tastes, and my hubby doesn’t appreciate most of my projects. Silly Man! So I’ve taken it upon myself to come up with some more rustic DIY gifts for men, that mine will actually like! These DIY Solid Cedar Coasters are husband approved and perfect for the man cave or den!
Items Needed:
- 3-4 Inches of 4×4 Cedar Wood
- Spray Lacquer
- Sander
- Saw
- Twine (optional)
Directions:
Begin by cutting your wood into four ½-inch pieces. If you do not have the tools or ability to cut them with a miter saw or hand saw, most lumber stores can cut them for you (usually for free) when you purchase your wood.
You can choose to sand by hand or with a handheld sander. Thoroughly sand each piece down, top and sides, but be careful to not sand too much as to take away the best features of cedar.
Next, spray each piece thoroughly with a coat of lacquer.
Wait for them to dry (20 minutes or so) and add another coat.
Once dry, you can add some self-sdhesive cork dots to the bottom of each of the DIY Solid Cedar Coasters. These help keep them from slipping and sliding.
These are a fairly quick and easy project that make great DIY gifts for men or stocking stuffer! But shhhhh! These are going in the hubby’s stocking, unless for some reason, he actually reads this post then…
Hey Hubby! These are actually for your father. *wink wink*

I love woodworking and got to teach my nieces a few shop tricks this summer. This would be a great project to do with them for their daddy. 🙂
