It’s been a while since I’ve read a good NON fiction book, so when I was offered a copy of “I’m Judging You: The Do-Better Manual” by Luvvie Ajayi, I jumped at the chance!

Goodreads Synopsis:

Comedian, activist, and hugely popular culture blogger at AwesomelyLuvvie.com, Luvvie Ajayi, serves up necessary advice for the common senseless in this hilarious book of essays.

With over 500,000 readers a month at her enormously popular blog, AwesomelyLuvvie.com, Luvvie Ajayi has become a go-to source for smart takes on pop culture. I’m Judging You is her debut book of humorous essays that dissects our cultural obsessions and calls out bad behavior in our increasingly digital, connected lives—from the cultural importance of the newest Shonda Rhimes television drama to serious discussions of race and media representation to what to do about your fool cousin sharing casket pictures from Grandma’s wake on Facebook. With a lighthearted, rapier wit and a unique perspective, I’m Judging You is the handbook the world needs, doling out the hard truths and a road map for bringing some “act right” into our lives, social media, and popular culture.

My Review: I’m Judging You: The Do-Better Manual by Luvvie Ajayi

Before being given this book, I was not aware that Luvvie was a blogger, and a talented one at that. It took only a few pages for me to start chuckling… and then underlining and then highlighting! There are so many solid tidbits in this book that I can’t share them all! But I can tell you that Luvvie has gained a new blog reader!

book-2

I often find myself shaking my head at the things I read about on social media… and wishing that common sense was far more common… well now I’ve got some Luvvie quotes to impart in those moments and I’m kind of excited for the opportunity!

Chapter 4 was probably my favorite… in fact I read and reread the first few paragraphs until I was laughing so hard, I couldn’t see to read anymore! Its all about the craziness we put ourselves through to be “perfect”…

“Rock makeup and hair lace front wigs hats to your hearts desire, but don’t die in the pursuit of different body parts…

…and I’m judging society. Because everyone hates how they look, everyone wants what they don’t have, and everyone is stuck in a cycle of so-called self-improvement that is really self defeating.”

Book Review: I’m Judging You: The Do-Better Manual” by Luvvie Ajayi – a MUST READ!!!

If you get a chance to pick up this book, DO IT! Its a clever, funny read that occasionally hits a little close to home when it comes to our own behavior… but then quickly soothes your ruffled feathers with some witty, self scathing commentary.

The moral of this book… DO BETTER! Something we could all use a little reminder about now and then!

This seems like a great book based on your review. It’s so hard to read with a baby but I definitely still try. Thanks for the review!

I must live under a rock, as I’ve not heard of this blogger or this book! Our crazy schedules are soon to slow down, so hopefully I’ll have more time to slow down and read. This book will definitely be on my list!
