Black Forest Trifle

Have you ever woken up with a craving for a particular food? I’m talking a bone deep, must have, nothing-will-stop-you-from-having-it food craving. Moments like that are pretty rare for me, but the day before my 31st birthday, I woke up with an intense craving for the Black Forest Trifle my Momma used to make!

Of course I couldn’t remember exactly how my Mom used to make this Trifle. I knew there was pie filling and cake and some sort of chocolate bar… oh! And pudding… but after that I was stuck! So I facetimed my sister and we discussed. Pretty sure I transferred my craving via facetime to Emily. ๐Ÿ˜€ Between the 2 of us we were able to remember the other ingredients and work out the layering sequence.

Immediately after ending our call I headed to the grocery store for all the necessary Black Forest Trifle ingredients. Trifle tastes best when its allowed to sit and “gel together” after a few hours, or even better, over night, and I NEEDED to have this trifle on my birthday!

My favorite thing about this Black Forest Trifle is the moist melding of flavors. Its just SO GOOD! With the help of my sister I nailed the ingredients and was able to recreate this favorite childhood dessert!

I have to admit… I was a little bit spoiled as I made my birthday trifle… my MIL happened to pop over to drop something off and offered to wash my trifle dishes as I was working on the layers ๐Ÿ™‚ I know… I have an awesome MIL. But honestly, the multitude of dishes is my least favorite part of making desserts like this. SO not only did I get the trifle I was craving, I also didn’t have to clean the kitchen when I was done! Yep!! I’m super spoiled ๐Ÿ˜€ Don’t worry, I paid her back with some Black Forest Trifle of her own ๐Ÿ™‚

I might have been as giddy as a 7 year old girl when lunch time rolled around the following day… it was my birthday and by george, I was gonna eat that trifle and enjoy every morsel ๐Ÿ˜€

Have you ever had an intense food craving that just HAD to be satisfied? What was it?

You won’t be able to resist this Delicious Black Forest Trifle! #recipe #delicious #foodie
