Unicorn Cactus Supplies:

  • 1 terra cotta pot and base
  • White acrylic paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Paint brushes – one for details and one general painting one
  • Glitter – I prefer the extra fine glitter
  • Decorations – We used tulle and silk flowers.  Rhinestones would be super fun too!
  • Hot glue gun
  • Glue
  • Foam Sheets – 1 white and 1 pink
  • Potting Soil
  • Cactus
  • Sealer (optional but recommended)

Unicorn Cactus Instructions:

Paint your pot and base with the white acrylic paint.  While the paint is still wet, sprinkle it with glitter.  Paint dries SUPER fast on terra cotta so you will have to paint and glittler in smaller sections.

Once everything is glittered, spray with your sealer if you are using one, and while its not required, it will keep the glitter from getting everywhere, so I highly recommend.  Set aside until it is dry.

The fun part!  Decide how you are going to decorate.  Idid one with just tulle and one with tulle and flowers.  If you are going to use flowers, smaller flowers are the easiest to work with! Rhinestones would be another fun idea for adding even more sparkle and glitter.

Hot glue your decorations on and using a fine tip brush, paint on the unicorn’s eyes and lashes.

Cut out two ear shapes of white foam.  Out of the pink foam, cut out two inner ears and glue to the center of the white foam ears. Use hot glue to secure the ears to your plant pot, aiming for equal distance on either side of the eyes you painted.

Once the glue is dry/cooled, fill the pot with potting soil and add your cactus “horn”.  Be careful! Don’t get “stuck” by the cactus (I put a little DNA into this one LOL)

Once your cactus is planted your unicorn cactus is ready to enjoy! It would also make a great gift to a fellow cactus/unicorn lover! I totally want to make more of these and use a rainbow theme!

The cutest gift idea! This unicorn cactus craft is fun, sparkly and ADORABLE!
