When it comes to moving, it can seem pretty simple to pack all your items, put them in a van and then get to your destination. Nobody really discusses the ideas of how to actually unpack all of your items into your new home. Sometimes the unpacking is more overwhelming than the packing. These tips are meant to help you organize and make the unpacking process less stressful.
So hopefully you’ve packed all of your prized possessions in an organized manner, moved and now you’re at your new place. The movers are gone. You are very happy in your new space . But now you find yourself surrounded by a bunch of boxes. You feel overwhelmed and not sure what to unpack first . Don’t fear I have a couple of tips to help you tackle this big task.
Tip #1 Hopefully the movers put the boxes in the correct rooms . If not , please place all the boxes in the appropriate rooms. Make sure all the boxes in each room belong there . This seems like a pretty logical step , but you’ll be surprised how many folks find this first step hard . It should be very easy to do. Take each labeled box and place in corresponding room . Once that’s done , move on to Tip #2 .
Tip #2 Unpack your Bathroom
The bathroom is very important because you will need it to freshen up while you’re unpacking. Take out all the items from the boxes and place them in small bins that you have already purchased.Place these bins under the sink in an organized manner.
Tip #3 Unpack your Bedroom
You need to unpack this room pretty early because you’re going to need a place to rest at the end of the day. Start by placing the furniture where you want it to go. Then , get the bedding and set up your bed. If you want to try the made up bed out , lay on your bed and enjoy for a moment what your bed would feel like at night.
Tip #4 Unpack your Kitchen
Now that you have the two most important rooms unpacked , tackle your kitchen. Before you unpack I suggest you get some labels , label them and place them where you want them to go around your kitchen . This will help you unpack properly and place your items where they belong.
Tip #5 Unpack your Living Room
You’re Almost done! This is the fun room. No rules apply. Be creative . Place the furniture where you want it to go . Next, your boxes and place the items where you see fit. Use your decorating skills and any items that you bought from decorating stores and to make this room your own.
Tip #6 now that you unpacked all your main rooms , it’s time to tackle your closets. Start by unpacking the linens and towels and place the items in the linen closet. If you don’t have a linen closet in your new place , find a spot in the hall closet.
Tip #7 Decorate! And Decorate Some More !
Take a break from unpacking and visit a decorator store. Look around for items that would look good in your new place. This is your final step in unpacking your house after a big move. Remember to make your house your house . A place where you can lay your head and know that you made a great move.
