HI Friends! I’m Jennifer, the blonde, Canadian, coffee addicted mind behind Finding my Way in Texas 🙂 I just celebrated my 29th (YIKES!) birthday and my first blogaversary with 3 weeks of giveaways (there are still a few open for entries! Pop over and check them out!). There is a ton I have learned about myself and blogging in the past year!
But there are so many things that I wish I’d known before I jumped on the “blogging bandwagon”! Like…
– Numbers really aren’t that important. They’re nice, but should not become an all consuming passion.
– Having an email account just for my blog. I’m stuck using my previous email that has my maiden name in it… talk about confusing! Hopefully I’ll be able to change this when I make the switch to WordPress in the new year.
– You don’t have to say yes to every giveaway and guest post request. I did for a couple months and got completely overwhelmed! I had to set a “budget” for giveaways each month. You’re doing yourself and your customers a disservice if you empty out the shop for giveaways!
– Finding your place in the blog world takes time, but its worth it to figure worth who and what you are as a blogger.
– Not everyone is going to follow you, or even *GASP* like you! I know! What a horrible thing to say… but its reality! The blog world is full of people… and people are not perfect! Be prepared to not always be please. Its gonna happen… but please, lets be adults about how we handle situations!
– Being organized is really important…especially if you’re a scatter brain like me! I love this printable from The Flourishing Abode! I so wish I had the talent for coming up with beautiful printable like this!
– All of these incredible tutorials the tech savvy bloggers out there have created! These are some of my favorites!..
- Blogging 101 from Food Bloggers of Canada
- Blogging Tips from Ginger Snaps Crafts
- Easy Blog Design Tips from Measured by the Heart
- Networking basics from the SITS Girls
– There are TONS of amazing people that blogs! I’ve made some incredible friends… and most of them know stuff that I don’t! Having friends that are smarter than I, has definitely come in handy!
If you’re new to blogging don’t be afraid to ask questions… you know what they say,,, the only dumb question is the one you don’t ask!
Oh and I LOVE making new friends… so pop on over to the blog, say hi and you never know, you could just become my newest bloggy BFF! 🙂
Thanks for having me Emily!
