101 Handmade Days: Easy Summer Wreath

Can you believe its almost August? How the heck did that happen? I’m not even remotely close to being done with my summer plans, and yet some kids start going back to school in a week or 2! And here I am minding my own business, making another Easy Summer Wreath!

For this easy summer wreath I used supplies I already had on hand. Glittery neon scrap book paper, pink lace, yellow fabric, straight sewing pins, wreath form and a flower shaped die cutter… this wreath kind of just fell together.

First I cut 2.5 to 3 inch wide strips of the yellow fabric and wrapped them snugly around the wreath form. I used some straight pins to secure the fabric at the beginning and end of the wrapping.

Once the wreath form was wrapped I set it aside, and went to cutting out some flowers. I cut 15-ish of each colored paper – blue, green, yellow, orange, pink and purple.

I decided to create a sort of rainbow/ombre effect with all the little flowers. I think it would be cool to use paint sample cards and do something like this in a truly ombre color scheme!

Once the flowers were punched out, I grabbed my straight pins and went to sticking them in!

I pushed a straight pin through the center of each flower and into the wreath form. I started with the blue, once I only had a few blue flowers left I added a green, then a few more blue, then onto the greens, to make it a little more interesting. I continued sticking in flowers until I ran out and ended with the purple flowers.

There was still a 6 inch space of fabric covered wreath form that didn’t have any flowers stuck on it, so I decided to add a lace bow. I cut a 3 inch wide strip of pink lace fabric, tied it in a bow and attached it with a few more straight pins.

All that was left to do was to hang it on the front door! And I think hubby at least mildly approves of this latest wreath creation! He didn’t mutter or complain once after it was hanging there 🙂

This easy summer wreath really is easy! And for once didn’t require any hot glue or sewing. That’s a definite easy DIY win in my books!

DIY your own Easy Summer Wreath with this simple tutorial! Your Front Door will Thank You!

Using supplies you already have – you can’t make it easier than that. I love the yellow around the wreath form. It’s very pretty.
