Love spending time outside but HATE the annoying bugs and mosquitoes?? Me too!!! There is nothing worse than sitting on the back deck, trying to enjoy a refreshing beverage and a few minutes of peace, while trying to avoid being eaten alive! The continual swatting and smacking and itching is a pain in the rear… sometimes literally!! These DIY Citronella Candles will have your loving your time outdoors again and avoiding all that pesky buzzing!
To make your own DIY Citronella Candles you will need:
1 Mason Jar or medium height vase
1 floating candle
1 or 2 sprigs of Rosemary
A 1/4 inch thick slice of lemon
water
10-15 drops of citronella essential oils
Directions:
Fill the Jar with water almost to the top. Add slice of lemon and Rosemary Sprigs.
Next add 10-15 drops of Citronella.
Place floating candle on top. This will help keep the mosquitoes away.
Replace lemon and water every 2-3 days.
You could even decorate your jar or vase with some burlap or lace and turn your DIY Citronella Candles into a fun and practical centerpiece!
Not only are these essential in Texas (and for our house-sized skeeters), but yours offer a bit of lovely beauty for the table. Love them.
The mosquitos have been terrible, this is a very timely diy!
I need to try this! Mosquitoes LOVE me and not my husband. He always thinks I’m overreacting about the number of mosquitoes on the loose because they never bother him. Thanks for sharing!
