When considering your next travel destination, you probably never considered Connecticut. It’s time to give this beautiful state the attention it deserves. One of the most beautiful destinations that people miss out on while here are the fresh water beaches. Connecticut is full of fresh water beaches that will make your stay here all worthwhile. Here are tips for visiting fresh water beaches in Connecticut.

Map out where you’re heading

There are tons of fresh water beaches in this beautiful state. This will take some planning because you need to find out which part of the state you want to head to. You won’t be disappointed either way!

Prepare for sandy beaches

Most people can’t wrap their mind around a salt less beach. However, Connecticut is full of sandy beaches without any salt in the water. Fresh water beaches are great for swimming, relaxing, and enjoying the sun. Just a few fresh water beaches in this state include, Hop Brook Dam Park, Lake Quonnipaug, and Lake Mohegan. These beaches are equally beautiful with tons to do! Get this: you can even take a walk on the sandy beaches.

Do a little camping

Did you know that a lot of state parks allow camping in Connecticut? You just need to find a beach you want to camp at and then go for it. You can either camp in a tent or bring your RV. Most RV parks have showers, bathrooms, drinking water, and so much more.

Get your swimming on

While visiting those fresh water beaches in Connecticut, there is one thing you must do. You must get in the water and swim. If you have never been to a fresh water beach, it’s much different than an ocean. Along with swimming, you can do a ton of water activities. Rafting, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, windsurfing, sailing, parasailing, and so much more.

Get a tune up before you head out

As beautiful as Connecticut is, you will be doing some driving to get there. Take your vehicle in to get looked at before you head out. The last thing you want is for your vehicle to not be up to par before your trip.

Heading to fresh water beaches in Connecticut is going to be an experience you won’t soon forget. What tips would you add? Have you ever been to a fresh water beach in Connecticut or some other state?
