Apparently, Pennsylvania is very popular for its ghost towns. When you head to this state for a road trip, you have to put some of these towns on your map. Eckley, PA was once a mining town, but now it’s basically a huge AWESOME museum. This town gives visitors a first hand look at what it was like to live in a mining town. The families that lived here had the basics they needed to survive. Many immigrants came to this town thinking they would make enough money and then leave, but many ended up staying for years and making Eckley the town that it was.
The next stop on your road trip in Pennsylvania should be to see some of the amazing scenery. Most people who visit PA don’t expect there to be so much beauty, but they’re in for a real treat. Ricketts Glen State Park has 13,050 acres. There are 22 waterfalls in the State Park and you can hike to many of them. Between the wildlife and waterfalls, this should definitely be a stop on your road trip list.
Millersburg Ferry is a unique experience in Pennsylvania that everyone needs to take. This ferry ride takes you across the Susquehanna River. The cool thing about this ferry is that you from one riverbank to the next. You can take in views that you would normally miss. If you’ve never taking a ferry, this is also a good chance to do so. Ferries are incredible in the fact that they can take people for a ride and tow vehicles of many different sizes!
One thing is for sure, Pennsylvania is full of very rich history! New Hope was once an industrial town in the great state of PA, but now it’s way different. This town can now be viewed as an artist town. Swinging through here on your road trip means you get to see the Delaware Canal upclose and personal. There is plenty of beautiful landscape to check out, shops to shop, and restaurants to experience.
