Its Book Club Time!! One of the many things I promised myself I’d do this year is take more time to read! In fact I talk about it a lot in my periscopes! I love to read and did far too little of it last year. Less than a month into 2016 and I’ve already polished of 3 or 4 books! Of course, sacrifices had to be made in order to do this wonderful reading…. but who needs sleep anyways??
Here are this month’s questions:
1. What are you reading right now? Tell us about it.
Right now I am reading “You and No Other” by Cynthia Wright. Its a renaissance romance. I’m only a chapter or 2 into it, so I haven’t formed much of an opinion yet. I’m in that weird place where I haven’t quite made up my mind about the characters, but I’m starting to learn some key things that are beginning to swing my opinion in one direction or another.
I’ve been on quite the historical romance kick lately. I think its because they’re easy to read and great for an hour or 2 when I need a little distraction. Sometimes I just need to read books that don’t make me think too hard… especially at 2 in the morning 😉
2. Are you doing any reading challenges in 2016? Share them with us.
Nope. Just committed to myself that I would read more.
3. Have you discovered any new authors lately?
Not really, at least none that have really caught my attention. I mostly just pick up free novels and $0.99 books from Bookbub (LOVE me some bookbub), so I don’t really pay attention to the author, unless they write a STAND OUT book!
Oh wait! That reminds me of Julia Kent! I picked up her Shopping for a Billionaire series from bookbub and was IMMEDIATELY hooked. I honest-to-goodness could not put this book down… I started and finished the first 4 books in about an 8 hour binge read… Pretty sure it was around 4 am when I couldn’t keep my open any longer. Its rare that a book can make me actually laugh out loud, but her writing style, the main character’s wit and wacky relationships had me LOL-ing for real.
I don’t typically go for the “Billionaire e-rom” books that are taking over the world, but I will make an exception for this series! And possibly anything else Julia writes. It was just THAT good!
4. There are a ton of book to movie adaptations coming out this year. Are you excited for any in particular or disappointed in any?
Believe it or not I am actually looking for ward to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies! I haven’t read the book yet (just ordered it on the weekend) but I have seen the movie trailer and I Can Not Wait to see this movie!!
5. What is a book you were looking forward to reading and then had a complete let-down feeling when you finished?
I’m sure that there are a few of those out there… but I refuse to dwell on them and will immediately pick up something else to get rid of that “bad taste” those disappointing books leave.
I’ve got more books on my kindle and stacked on my night stand than I can “Shake a stick at” these days… expect some honest-to-goodness book reviews coming soon!

Oh so much fun! I’m hoping to read at least 10 books this year. I only got through 8 last year. I’m reading some Stephen King books, Kyra Davis, & Joanne Fluke.

i need to sit down and read asap. I usually carry a book in my purse, but don’t find time to actually open it unless im on a plane or something for a long time.

YES I have the same problem. When I was studying abroad I read SO much because I was always on planes/trains/etc. with no wifi so reading was my only option. I miss being able to knock out 5 or 6 books in a semester.

I made a goal to read more, particularly before bed. I love seeing what other people are reading!

I would love to get into a good book right now so I’m taking recommendations in between reading textbooks. I need to get back on this wagon!
