When I was a little girl, having your photograph taken was a big undertaking – my hair had to be tidied, outfit straightened, face washed and I was to wear my biggest and best smile. The process was such a big deal because you only had a certain number of ‘snaps’ on the camera film so you had to try and get it right first time! Once developed, they were put in frames and proudly displayed on the mantelpiece.
Enter Digital
With the advent of the digital camera, all this changed considerably. Now we can take numerous photographs and view them instantly on the camera screen. We can decide whether to keep, delete or retake without a second thought. However, one of the downfalls of digital photography is that all too often, hundreds of photograph images are stored on USB keys, CDs, computer drives and other storage devices. All too often, we have good intentions to print off our digital photographs, which can be done easily and instantly and in a variety of ways, but end up forgetting. Occasionally that forgetfulness can cost us!
Canvas Prints
There are a wide range of options when it comes to printing your digital images and one of the nicest ways to print your photo is onto a canvas. A photo canvas print is made when a digital photo image is printed directly onto a canvas which is then stretched onto a frame for you to display in your home. You can create truly personal artwork and adorn your home with a photo canvas print created by your own fair hand!
Portrait Canvas Prints
One of the most beautiful ways to adorn your home with a photo canvas print is with a family portrait shot. You can have the canvas as large or as small as you wish, however, the larger, the more impressive usually. Shots can be printed in a variety of color tones depending on your décor or just your own personal preference. One of my favorites is sepia where an image is sprinted in shades of brown. It gives a vintage, classic look to a picture and is definitely a personal favourite. You can also have your photo canvas prints printed in black and white, grayscale, full color, partial color – the sky’s the limit!
Artistic Canvas Prints
You can also experiment with your artistic side with a photo canvas print. Take for example, a close-up picture that you take of a flower. This can be developed onto a canvas and when complete, could rival any picture canvas that you can buy in the shops at a fraction of the cost. You could also take pictures of the same subject from a few different angles and have them printed onto separate canvases for a unique, gallery effect in your home. In this way, you can easily create a masterpiece for your home.
You can proudly display your family photos on canvas or show your artistic side when decorating your home with your photo canvases. Not only that, but turning your precious photos into outstanding canvas features which you have created can be an immensely satisfying process especially when you see the finished product adorning your home.
