This post about self care ideas is brought to you in part by MONQ. All opinions are my own.

When you have a bad day, you might find that you want to grab a drink or eat something unhealthy. But these are not healthy habits to have. Replacing bad and unhealthy habits with these self care ideas, will make you feel amazing and be better for you in the long run!

Watch Something Funny

Don’t underestimate the power of laughing! If you are having a terrible day, find a way to watch TV or a movie that makes you laugh. Avoid action, drama, and other genres that might make you feel miserable by the end. Binge watch your favorite comedy on Netflix, or turn on the TV to try something new. Youtube and funny cat videos are pretty much the best. There is a reason that they say laughter is the best medicine! Laughing is extremely healing and can quickly change your mood even after the very worst of days.

Get Out of the House

Some people prefer staying inside and watching Netflix for self care, while others already spend a lot of time indoors. If this is you, then getting out to socialize and meet up with friends might be a better option. When you find yourself doing nothing but working and going home, you may simply need another outlet. Try meeting co-workers for drinks after work or calling up a sister or cousin to have a girl’s night out. Get a little bit out of your comfort zone and it can be very good for you. If you work from home like me, getting out can be one of the most effect of these self care ideas.

Spend More Time with Friends and Family

Many people think being alone is the only way to take care of themselves and relieve stress, but sometimes the best thing for you is being around others that you love. Think about your daily lifestyle and what tends to stress you out. You might find that you feel worse when you are constantly alone, but your mood seems to lift on happy hour night or when visiting your best friend. This is a good sign that what you really need is to get out and spend more time with others. Often, when life and work and things are getting to me, calling up a friend and heading out for an afternoon coffee can be a much needed self care break.

Take a Break and Just Breathe

Sometimes you just have to stop what you’re doing and just take a break. Take some time to breathe. One of my favorite ways to take a little care of myself, is to head outside and take some deep breaths. I’ve also recently started using MONQ personal essential oil diffusers. Let me tell you, THEY WORK and are a great way to stop, enjoy the moment, and benefit my body.

MONQ is a personal and portable aromatherapy diffuser that promotes mood change and various life-enhancing effects through custom blends of essential oils and wild plant extracts. You all know that I LOVE my essential oils and these are a fabulous way to easily incorporate them into every day life! Even when I am on the go and super busy! MONQ is available in 10 different blends, all of which are organic, natural, and free of nicotine, tobacco, or artificial chemicals. I love the sleepy blend when I need to relax before bed and the vibrant blend for a little mental pick my up in the afternoon!

Meditate For 10 Minutes

On a really bad day, try to have at least a short meditation session (and I’ll take my MONQ’s out with me). Even if you can’t find a few minutes where you are alone, you can think of other places you might be alone and able to meditate, like when you are going on a walk or run, or while taking a shower. I’ve tried to integrate meditation into my daily routine. It can be a challenge with pups that never seem to leave me alone, so I let them run around outside, while I do a little meditation in the back yard.

These are just a few of my favorite and most practical self care ideas for every day!

What self care ideas do you practice or try to integrate in times of stress?
