I am a Reader and definitely consider myself a serious Book Lover. I’ve 70% switched over to using my kindle because its convenient… but there is just something magical about holding a book in your hands and getting lost in another world! Of course if you’re doing your reading the “old fashioned way” with a book in hand, you’re gonna need a way to mark the page you’re on! So why not make your own ribbon and jewel bookmarks?
Supplies:
- Ribbon
- Jewels from old necklaces or earrings missing their mates
- Needle and thread
Instructions:
Begin by cutting a length of ribbon approximately twice as long as you want the finished bookmark to be.
Fold the ends of the ribbon in, folding each end over twice to hide the cut edge of the ribbon.
Use our needle and thread to secure the ribbon ends together.
Next use the needle and thread to secure your jewel to the end of the ribbon. The jewel is likely heavy so be sure to secure it well. I attached mine at the very end so that it would dangle from the ribbon.
The bookmark easily loops over your wrist like a bracelet when reading and is less likely to be misplaced!
I’m definitely going to whip up a whole bunch of these ribbon and jewel bookmarks! Cause I always have more than a few books on the go!
Are you a reader? What book(s) are your reading this summer?
