As a kid I remember making friendship bracelets and passing them out on valentines or for birthdays. My bracelets pretty much consisted of yarn braided or tied in knots. These fun creations from Sara of Knot Me More brought back those happy memories! And made me want to go on a bit of a shopping spree!!
Tell us about how you got started…
My products developed out of my fascination for bracelets. I love bracelets especially tribal inspired bracelets. My fascination for native american beading led me to discover bead looming and peyote bracelets. As I got the hang of working and knotting I began collecting bracelets, and I ended up having too many for me to wear. That was one of the major reason to create my small business.
Being a college student with a full time schedule and a part-time job left me broke most of the time. I notice that there were many similar bracelets to my creations being sold at the mall, for a price that very few college students could afford. My idea was to sell locally to my friends at a cheap price that would benefit them and that would still leave me with enough profit to make more bracelets. After a while a friend of mine suggested selling online. I listed an item on Etsy in 2012, life took over and finally on April 2014 I had time to make and list more items. I am now using both Etsy and Storenvy to sell my products, it is a wonderful experience to have people all over the world like and purchase your items.
What inspires your creative process? Why do you do what you do?
As I said before, I wanted to create jewelry that was affordable for those fashion savvy college students. I also love making jewelry, if it were my choice I would stop working and just dedicate my life to jewelry making. Recently, I have been working with wire jewelry and other techniques to make my store more versatile and I have to admit its pretty exciting. Native American jewelry, tribal jewelry and patterns will always be my inspiration. Overall I make my products because it makes me happy to see others wearing and enjoying my them.
